Marble and Granite both can be used as a countertop, floor tiling and other uses. The differences are in
the density and sensitivity to acid.
Marble is not a good choice to be used in a home with small children because it has a ability to stain
easily when exposed to acidic foods. Not only can it stain from acidic foods it may lose some of its
vibrancy. Marble is a stone that has a durability that matches granite but is often used fireplaces and in
bathroom tiles.
Because granite has greater density and hardness making it resistant to scratches, acids, stains and
heat, it is often the more popular choice for kitchen countertops and outdoor pieces.
